Belotero Filler Questions and Answers

While aging is a beautiful and natural fact of life, wrinkles and fine lines can be a difficult part of that process to accept! Fortunately, there are safe and effective ways to remedy fine lines and wrinkles if they are causing you grief. At Remedi Med Spa, we offer various dermal filler treatments, including Belotero fillers! Belotero dermal fillers are minimally invasive and clinically proven to treat a wide variety of aging signs. We welcome you to come and see for yourself today!

What is Belotero good for?

Belotero dermal fillers are used to reduce the appearance of a wide variety of lines, folds, and wrinkles in the facial region, including the cheeks, chin, eyes, lips, and nose. Specifically, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Belotero fillers for treating moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. The fillers come in a soft, gel-like form. Belotero products come in various consistencies in order to treat both superficial and deep folds and wrinkles, as well as to boost volume in targeted areas.

The operative ingredient in Belotero fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA), which is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in your body, with the highest concentrations occurring in the fluid around your joints and eyes. When used in a dermal filler, hyaluronic acid stimulates increased production of collagen and elastin, which are fibroblast proteins that are an essential part of wound healing and the generation of new connective tissue.

As we age, our body naturally produces less collagen and elastin, causing wrinkles and fine lines to appear as your skin loses its strength, flexibility, and structural integrity. As such, Belotero injections work to counteract this loss of collagen and elastin through hyaluronic acid injections to keep your skin looking firm, fresh, and young!

How long does Belotero filler last?

The length of time that a Belotero filler lasts depends on the specific Belotero product that you are treated with. That said, if you use Belotero Basic or Belotero Balance, which we proudly offer at Remedi Med spa, you can expect results to last for up to six months when used to treat fine lines or for lip augmentation.

After the filler is administered, your Belotero provider may also provide you with some follow-up instructions, both for aftercare and when you might require a subsequent appointment. For best results, it is a good idea to continue to both limit your exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays and practice daily skincare routines after Belotero treatment.

How long does Belotero swelling last?

While there is no downtime with Belotero injections, you may notice some slight swelling near the injection site over the following 24 hours after the procedure. That said, the swelling should not be severe enough to keep you from returning to work or to your usual activities after the procedure has been completed. Your Belotero provider will likely provide you with aftercare instructions to both relieve swelling and ensure the best results from treatment.

Once the swelling goes down, you should notice a gradual improvement from the filler. Typically, most patients achieve peak results about two to three weeks after the initial appointment.
